The Mentor Board of Education:
- Consists of five citizens, elected by non-partisan ballot, each serving a four-year term.
- Functions as a policy-making body according to the mandates of state law.
- Represents the State of Ohio and the citizens of the Mentor Public Schools on all matters and decisions dealing with public education and in some matters concerning services for non-public school students.
- Determines the goals and priorities of the school district.
- Authorizes the appointment of the superintendent, treasurer, teachers and other staff members.

Mrs. Bryner, her husband Jim, and their son Derek live in Mentor. Her adult daughter Jennifer lives with her husband and two children in Willowick. Mary is a licensed Property and Casualty Insurance Agent with Progressive Insurance and has over 25 years experience in sales and customer experience. She attended Lakeland Community College and Cleveland State University. She is a past member of the National Association of Insurance Women, Cleveland Insurance Women and Lake-Geauga Insurance Women where she served as President from 1999-2000. She was named Insurance Woman of the Year in 2000. She has been an active PTA member for more than 18 years serving as both Vice President and President of Reynolds Elementary and Ridge Junior High PTAs. She has also served on the board for the Lake County Council of PTA. |

Mr. Mihok, his wife JoAnn, and their three children live in Kirtland Hills. Alan is President of MJK Consulting. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Managerial Economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and received a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from Cleveland State University. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Ohio Society of CPAs and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Buckeye Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Alan also established the Mentor Board of Education Scholarship Fund. Three Mentor High School students receive this award every year. His term expires December 31, 2013. |

Mr. Shaw, his wife Denise, and their four children live in Mentor. Bill is the Fire Chief for the Solon Fire Department. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University, an Associate of Arts Degree in Fire Science Technology from Lakeland Community College, and has completed the Executive Fire Officer Program from the National Fire Academy in Maryland. He is a member of numerous organizations within his occupation and has served on the State of Ohio Financial Planning and Supervision Commission for Mentor Exempted Village Schools, the Executive Board for the Solon 100 Club and as a parent volunteer at Dale R. Rice Elementary School. His term expires December 31, 2013. |

Mr. Sparacia, his wife of 21 years and their four children live in Concord Township. Drew is the founding partner of global X, a tax consulting company specializing in historic preservation and other socially responsible tax credit programs. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and a minor in Mathematics from Ohio Wesleyan University. He also earned a J.D. from the School of Law at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and an M.B.A. in Finance from the CWRU Weatherhead School of Management. Mr. Sparacia is a member of the Ohio State Bar. He spends his free time coaching youth sports in Mentor and is a Board member for the Mentor Youth Football Association. His term expires December 31, 2013. |

Mr. Tuttle and his wife Mary live in Mentor. Their two children, Matthew and Sarah, both graduated from Mentor High School. Tom is the Chief Financial Officer for Lake Geauga Recovery Centers, Inc. in Mentor and Chardon. He is also a licensed REALTOR© with KELLER WILLIAMS Greater Cleveland Northeast. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Ohio University, majoring in Accounting, Economics and Mathematics. He owned and operated two small businesses in Mentor and Wickliffe between 1986 and 2002. He sponsored and managed a girls softball team in the Mentor Softball Association for 10 years. |
