Cardinal Challenge
Cardinal Challenge is an annual academic competition between the three Mentor Middle Schools. It is modeled on the Academic Challenge program and involves one student representing each grade level as a team. Although we practice from October to February, there is only one day of competition culminating our work. There are several phases of this one competition with timed rounds, single team questions and all-team rounds. The team members may change for each round.

To be a team member, you must try out through a fifty question multiple choice test that you will take in September.  There are approximately six students from each grade level accepted onto the team each each year..

You are a good candidate for Cardinal Challenge if...
  • You are a quick thinker
  • You like to compete
  • You want to represent Memorial well
  • You remember what you learn from your classes
  • You are outgoing
  • You want to do all that on-stage in front of an audience.

On Tuesday March 12 Memorial's Cardinal Challenge team was recognized for their third consecutive win by the Mentor Board of Education. The trivia competition between Ridge, Shore and Memorial occurred on Wednesday February 13. The competition consists of five rounds in which a 6th, 7th and 8th grader represent the team. This year, Memorial's victory was extra special because they ended up winning by over 200 points! The whole team was very excited by their win. Miss Sherritt and the 6th and 7th graders are already looking forward to next year's competition!
