Congressional High School Art Competition Current Congressman: David Joyce
Each spring, a nation-wide high school arts competition is sponsored by the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The Artistic Discovery Contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district.
All four 2012 winners are from Mentor High School. This year Brianna Beck's entry, Cleveland Blurr, has been selected as the winning entry. Her piece will be displayed in our Nations' Capitol along with other winners from across the country for one year after the ribbon cutting ceremony onJune 20th. Aidan Walsh, another senior at Mentor High School, won the 2011 Congressional High School Art Contest,last Spring (pictured below, left) where her piece is currently hanging ina corridor of the U.S. Capitol building. Her entry, Magic Kingdom, has been awarded 2nd place this year and will be displayed in our Congressman's Washington D.C. office for one year. Charlotte Klimovich's entry, Frozen in Time, has been awarded 3rd place and her piece will be displayed in the lobby of our Congressman's Painesville Office. Rebbecca Konte, another junior at MHS, has been awarded 4th place for her entry, Thirsty, and her piece will be displayed in our Congressman's Twinsburg office for one year. Congratulations, artists!
