Fine Art III
Full Year- 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Fine Art II and Art Teacher Recommendations

This course is designed to be the third class taken by those who are in the Fine Arts Program. This course enables highly motivated students to explore their goals in art. Emphasis is placed on the production of a volume of quality pieces of artwork.  Students will draw from life, paint (transparent and opaque), respond to creative problem solving, and deal with two-dimensional organizational issues. All students enrolling in the course are expected to assemble and submit a Junior Studio Art Portfolio and journal. Successful completion of this course will prepare students for the opportunity to enroll in Fine Art IV.

Fine Art III Honors
Full Year- 1 Credit (weighted)

This course enables highly motivated students to explore their goals of art as a career option. Emphasis is placed on the production of a volume of quality pieces of artwork both in and outside of class. This course is an advanced course and requires serious work and dedication as an artist. Most importantly, it provides students with an awareness of post-secondary options in art and helps them begin to prepare for study at the college level. All students enrolling in the course are expected to assemble and submit a Junior Studio Art Portfolio and journal. Successful completion of this course will prepare students for the opportunity to enroll in Fine Art IV AP Studio Art.

Fine Art IV
Full Year- 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Fine Art III and Teacher Recommendations

This course is designed to be the fourth class taken by those who are in the Fine Arts Program. Upon completion of this course, the student may wish to continue art as an avocation. Students will draw from life, paint (transparent and opaque), respond to creative problem solving, and deal with two-dimensional organizational issues. The major emphasis is Fine Art IV will be to develop and refine those skills learned in the previous fine art classes as well as introduce and develop new concepts associated with personal interpretation or theme both in and outside of class. A journal is required and a senior portfolio will be assembled.

Fine Art IV AP Studio
Full Year- 1 Credit (weighted)
Prerequisite: Fine Art III and Teacher Recommendations

This course enables highly motivated students to perform at the college level while still in high school. Emphasis is placed on the production of a volume of quality pieces of artwork both in and outside of class. This course is an advanced, college level course and requires serious work and dedication as an artist. Most importantly, it also allows students to compare their work with that of other high school students throughout the nation and helps them prepare an excellent portfolio to fulfill admission requirements at the college level. Students will also be able to participate in scholarship competitions. All students enrolling in the course are expected to assemble and submit anAP Studio Art Portfolio and journal. The AP Studio Portfolio is performance-based exam rather than a written exam, and is mandatory for AP credit. The competition of this course will provide students with the opportunity to receive college credit or to place out of certain college courses. Students should contact their post-secondary institution(s) to determine the status of AP credentials.
 
Students in Fine Art 3 Honors and/or Fine Art 4 AP may wish to attendNational Portfolio Day, an event specifically for visual artists. It is an opportunity for those who wish to pursue an education in the visual and related arts to meet with representatives from colleges accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.  Representatives will be available to review your artwork, discuss their programs and answer questions about professional careers in art.
