ABSENCES

  1. To report absences, call 974-5404 twenty four hours a day.
  2. The primary responsibility for supervision of a student rests with the parent(s) or guardian(s). Parents or guardians of absent children shall call the school each day to report the absence within the first two (2) hours at the beginning of the school day that the student is absent.
  3. If a call is not received from the parent or guardian by the time indicated above, the principal or the principal’s designee shall attempt to call home before the end of the school day. If this call is unsuccessful, then not later than one (1) day following the absence the principal or the principal’s designee shall send, by mail, to the parent or guardian a written notification of the child’s absence.
  4. Provided no parent contact was made on the day returning from an absence, students must give a note with a parent signature to Mrs. Lewis in the Guidance Office. Note should include dates, reason for absence, parent signature, and daytime phone number.
  5. In case of short-term illness, classwork assignments should be secured from a friend or the teacher contacted personally. Please allow at least 24 hours after request is made for assignments to be given.
  6. If an illness is extended, class work assignments will be provided if requested. Contact Mrs. Lewis in the guidance office for such requests.
  7. Missing the bus is not an excuse for missing school. The State of Ohio recognizes illness, religious holiday or death in the family as excused absences.
  8. If both parents leave for work before a student leaves for school, the student should contact a parent and have him or her call the school to explain the absence. Parent contact is expected.

TARDINESS

Students are to be to school on time and in class BEFORE the 8:40 AM bell.
  1. Students who are [a] late to school or [b] in school but NOT class before the 8:40 AM bell, are recorded as tardy to school.
  2. If arrival at school is after 8:40 AM you are to report immediately/directly to the guidance/attendance secretary and receive an “admit pass” to first period.
