Welcome to Art at MHS

Welcome to Art at MHS My name is Mary Lynn Tonti and I am a 1980 graduate of Mentor High School. I received a full ride Volleyball scholarship to Cleveland State University where I graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education along with a Concentration in Coaching. I attended Lake Erie College and Kent State for much of my graduate work.
I began my teaching career in Mentor in 1985. After eighteen years as an Elementary Art Teacher I am now in my ninth year at Mentor High. I am currently teaching Fine Art II, Drawing and Ceramics. I enjoy teaching different art disciplines as it allows me to work with students with a variety of art mediums. I currently live with my husband Anthony, my horse Meshack, our dog Arby and kitty Jordon on our working farm in Montville Township.
Fine Art II
Full year-1 credit Prerequisite: Fine Art I and art teacher recommendation

This course is designed to be the second course in the series of Fine Art classes. Its purpose is to continue the portfolio preparation process and provide further development of drawing skills, painting techniques, and design concepts that were explored in Fine Art I. A shift of emphasis from previous art classes is the expectation that students have strong drawing skills and a work ethic which embraces working on projects both in class and outside of class. This course is designed to continue the fine art experience but students may not necessarily desire a career in art. Students will be required to purchase a journal and a supply packet in addition to the art fee.
