January 17, 2014 -- This morning a representative from the Ohio Auditor of State’s office presented the Mentor Public Schools’ Treasurer’s Office with the Auditor’s Award with Distinction, after announcing our district earned its fourth consecutive Perfect Audit for fiscal year 2013.
This means, after spending several months reviewing Mentor Schools’ checks and balances system during the auditing process, the Auditor’s Office does not have any recommendations for improvement. The process includes looking at a large sample of the more than 35,000 checks Mentor Schools issues a year, including vendors and employees.
Along with the Perfect Audit Report, the Award with Distinction is given for excellence in financial reporting based on the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). You can view the CAFR in its entirety by visiting the Chief Financial Officer’s section of our website.
The Perfect Audit represents a job well done by our Board of Education, Chief Financial Officer, Superintendent, administration and staff who work diligently to ensure Mentor Public Schools are great stewards of tax-payer dollars in our commitment to our vision to maximize the capacity, effectiveness and efficiency of all our current and future resources, while meeting and exceeding the instructional needs of our students to prepare them for life after graduation.
Thank you for your continued support of Mentor Schools.
