Mentor Public Schools received its fifth consecutive Perfect Audit report from the Ohio Auditor of State Dave Yost’s office for fiscal year 2014. The Auditor’s Office completed and filed its report on December 31, 2014 and can be viewed by visiting the Chief Financial Officer’s section of the website and clicking on the State Audits tab.
This means, after spending several months reviewing Mentor Schools’ checks and balances system during the auditing process, the Auditor’s Office does not have any recommendations for improvement. The auditing process included analyzing a large sample of the more than 35,000 checks Mentor Schools issues a year to both vendors and employees.
At February’s Board of Education meeting the Treasurer’s Office was recognized for their efforts in reaching this notable accomplishment. Additionally, a representative from the Auditor’s Office attended to present the district with the Auditor’s Award with Distinction. The Award with Distinction is given for excellence in financial reporting based on the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). You can view the CAFR in its entirety and read a letter from Dave Yost, Auditor of State also by visiting the Chief Financial Officer’s section of our website and looking under the Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports (CAFR) and Awards & Recognition tabs, respectively.
Both the Perfect Audit and Award with Distinction represent a job well done by our Board of Education, Chief Financial Officer, Superintendent, administration and staff who work diligently to ensure Mentor Public Schools are great stewards of tax-payer dollars. We remain committed to our vision to maximize the capacity, effectiveness and efficiency of all our current and future resources, while meeting and exceeding the instructional needs of our students to prepare them for life after graduation.
Thank you for your continued support of Mentor Public Schools.
