Dear Community Members,
As your school board, we have a most important obligation to ensure a high quality superintendent is at the helm of Mentor Public Schools. This leader oversees our wonderful team of teachers, support staff, and administrators who work with our community’s children on a daily basis. Our school board has been in the process of searching for a new superintendent since February when Mr. Matthew Miller announced he would be leaving our district.
Last week, we announced a plan to appoint a new superintendent for Mentor Schools. While this candidate met the professional qualifications and requirements we were looking for in the district’s next leader, we heard concerns from a number of stakeholders. After much deliberation and discussion as your elected leaders, we voted to move in a different direction.
Throughout this process our board has continued its focus on one goal: identifying the best possible leader for Mentor Public Schools. Our next steps will be to select an interim superintendent and share that information with you. We are confident the Mentor Schools’ team will ensure a smooth transition for the children we serve.
Thank you for your continued support of our students, staff and schools.
