July 7, 2016 -- The Mentor Board of Education unanimously approved the superintendent’s recommendation to hire Andy Fetchik as the new Mentor High School Principal at a special Board of Education meeting this evening.

Mr. Fetchik joins the Mentor Schools team to replace Mr. William Wade, who is leaving for the superintendent position of Kirtland Schools. Mr. Fetchik is scheduled to begin working August 1, 2016.

“Mr. Fetchik is a perfect fit for our school community and will be a wonderful addition to Mentor High School,” said Superintendent Matthew Miller. “His experience and passion for education was immediately evident throughout our interview process, and he demonstrates the leadership skills necessary to drive staff and students to achieve at their highest potential.”

While the district received applications from many qualified individuals, Mr. Fetchik stood-out as the best candidate to uphold Mentor Schools’ goal of providing a safe learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Additionally, his strong communication and relationship-building skills will benefit our students, staff, parents, and community as a whole.

“I am excited for the opportunity to work with the students and staff of Mentor High School,” Mr. Fetchik said. “I am very impressed by the innovation and amazing work happening in Mentor during a time of instructional change and know we will continue to work together to provide a high quality education for our students.”

Mr. Fetchik brings 14 years of administrative experience with him to Mentor Schools, including serving as principal of Chardon High School for the last eight years. Prior to becoming an administrator, he taught geography and English language arts at the middle school level for six years. Mr. Fetchik earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Ursuline College and teaching certificate from Cleveland State University. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and a superintendent’s license.

Mr. Fetchik and his family live in Munson Township. He and his wife Julie are the proud parents of three children, Drew (14), Heath (11) and Aubrey (8).
