Mentor Schools continues to advocate for tax-relief for senior citizens
On April 12, 2016, the Mentor Board of Education adopted a resolution requesting Ohio legislators adopt a new law to restore the local residential property tax 12 1/2 % rollback on new property tax levies and also expand and enhance the homestead exemption program for senior citizens.
Since April 2016, our Board of Education, Superintendents, and Chief Financial Officer have been actively advocating for adoption of additional tax relief for our senior citizens who are financially challenged to vote their values and beliefs for high quality public education.
Recently our Chief Financial Officer, Daniel L. Wilson, represented our school district in meetings with Lieutenant Governor candidates Betty Sutton and Jon Husted. Both candidates responded positively to our pursuit on the restoration of the residential property tax rollback as well as expanding and enhancing the homestead residential property tax exemption program.
