A Message from the Principal

Built in 1939, Garfield Elementary School is one of eight elementary schools located in the Mentor Exempted Village School District. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade attend our school, and our overall enrollment averages near 425 students each year.

Garfield Elementary School has been designated an OAESA Hall of Fame school as well as a federally recognized Disciplined and Drug Free School. Our professional staff is dynamic and dedicated to meeting the needs of all learners. Our collective focus is on high standards in all aspects of learning, student growth, and achievement.

We strive to provide a safe, healthy, and friendly environment for our students. Our Olweus Anti-Bullying Program and P.A.W.S. (A Positive Attitude WinS) have been implemented to enhance our learning environment. The entire staff values and appreciates our school community of supportive, enthusiastic parents and families.
