Art Alumni

As a Mentor Schools alum, you play a critical role in our students' and our community's understanding of the arts! We are actively working on ways to keep you connected with us and with one another. We developed this survey with the goal of communicating with our alumni in the hope that we can share the best opportunities and most useful resources with our current art students and inform our stakeholders about careers in art.

2023 COLLEGE & CAREER FAIR FOR VISUAL ARTS
We would like your help in the creation of a College and Career Fair for Visual Arts that could potentially be a biannual free event hosted by the Mentor High School Art Department, designed to provide arts-interested high school students and parents with information about higher education and careers in the arts or art related fields. The first College and Career Fair for Visual Arts will take place on Mentor High School’s campus in the Paradigm on Monday, February 6, 2023 from 7:30am-2:00pm.

The Mentor High School Art Department would like to team up with alumni from Mentor High School, members from the local art community, and representatives from art related careers to offer current 8-12 grade students an opportunity to speak with a variety of small businesses, nonprofits and industries across Ohio, to discuss internships, field experience for the Arts Honors Diploma, Senior Project and other networking opportunities or career paths. We are asking alumni and artists to serve as role models for current students who want to discover their full potential by bringing in past graduates to talk about what they do or what inspired them to enter an arts related career field. Our students love the arts but may not be sure how to pursue them after high school!

The Mentor High School Art Department is also teaming up to offer students an opportunity to not only explore their programs, but also speak with representatives from a variety of colleges and institutions across the country. This event will feature admissions representatives from prestigious colleges and universities that specialize in the education of young visual artists, whether they are arts schools, trades schools or schools with arts programs. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and gather printed information from these arts programs in a convenient multi-school format. Colleges will also help students with scholarship information and refining their portfolio by reviewing their artwork and helping them prepare for the application process.

If you are interested in participating, or contributing in some way, please complete this Google Survey/Form. We appreciate your commitment to our next generation of artists and designers and we thank you in advance for giving back to the community. Do not hesitate to reach out with ideas and suggestions. You can email any of us at the Mentor High School Art Department! -Thank you! Mrs. Kane
