Confirmed Coronavirus Case

March 17, 2020

Mentor Schools families:

As you know, we are facing a national health crisis due to the spread of Coronavirus and our community was bound to be impacted, as we are beginning to see now. A parent has reported to us that she has tested positive for the Coronavirus via the Cleveland Clinic and it has been confirmed by the Lake County General Health District. The individual tells us she is doing okay.

We are sharing this with you because the parent was at both Orchard Hollow and Hopkins schools between March 6 and March 11. At Orchard Hollow she did not have interaction with students as she was there for meetings with staff. She went to Hopkins to attend the 3rd grade Heart Healthy Expo evening event.

We appreciate this parent called to notify us of this information. We immediately called the Health District, and they did offer some guidance to pass along to everyone who has been in these buildings: practice social distancing and self monitor for symptoms.

For those who were in direct contact with the individual, the Health District recommended to self quarantine. We have notified those who we know were in direct contact with the individual by telephone. But, due to the nature of the Hopkins evening event, we do not know who may have had direct contact.

Please join us in working together to limit the spread of this disease by following the important guidelines that are coming to us from our government leaders.  I would encourage everyone to keep updated about the Coronavirus pandemic with accurate information. Here are reliable resources:

Hopkins School Community:

Good evening. A parent has reported to us that she has tested positive for the Coronavirus via the Cleveland Clinic and it has been confirmed by the Lake County General Health District. We are sharing this with you because the parent was in the building for the 3rd grade Healthy Heart Expo evening event on March 10. Due to the nature of this event, it is hard to know exactly who the individual had direct interactions with. The individual tells us she is doing okay.

We appreciate this parent called to notify us of this information. We immediately called the Health District, and they did offer some guidance to pass along to everyone: practice social distancing and self monitor for symptoms.

For those who were in direct contact with the individual, which again, we understand is hard to know at this point, the Health District recommended to self quarantine.

As you know, we are facing a national health crisis due to the spread of Coronavirus and our community was bound to be impacted, as we are beginning to see now. Please continue to work together to limit the spread of this disease by following the aggressive guidelines that are coming to us from our government leaders.
