Program Information

The We Care Program provides before and/ or after school care for Mentor Schools students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The program includes snack (afternoon only), homework/ quiet time, active play, crafts, and individual/ group games.

We Care operates only on days that school is in session.  Due to current COVID conditions, there have been some changes to the We Care program.  Families will sign up through the Annual Update, and a positive balance must be maintained in the account.

In the morning, students will be met at the designated door by We Care staff.  In the afternoon, students may only arrive directly from their classroom at dismissal or from an activity/ club held at the school building.

This year, parents/guardians will not be permitted in the buildings. We Care staff will be posted at designated doors to check ID’s and radio for the student(s) being picked up.   Students can only be released to individuals listed in the Parent Portal with proper ID. For the safety of our students, we are unable to accept phone calls requesting any changes to the authorized pick up list.

Registration Fee: There is an annual $35.00 non-refundable registration fee per child with a $70.00 maximum per family.

Hourly Tuition: Families are charged a rate of $4.00/ hour for each child in the program. There is a minimum charge of one hour ($4.00) per shift (morning and afternoon), and then the time is prorated on the quarter hour.

Children picked up after 6:00pm will be charged an additional late pickup fee of $8.00 per quarter hour

Families are required to purchase 25 hours of care ($100) per child at a time. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that there is a positive balance in the student’s account to continue We Care Services. Balances can be monitored on the Parent Portal or checked at the We Care Center. Payment may be made by cash, checks payable to: “Mentor BOE” (no postdated checks), or credit card online.

Registration Information

Due to distancing and other COVID regulations, each center has a limited number of spaces available. Please call the We Care office to inquire about space availability at any of the centers.

Students must be registered annually for each school year which is completed through the Parent Portal within the Annual Update. Once registration has been completed, go to the School Store to pay registration fee and $100 start-up for We Care. Registration is not official until both steps have been completed.  Once the Annual Update is updated, all changes or NEW REGISTRATIONS for the We Care program CAN ONLY be completed by contacting the We Care Coordinator.

Families are required to pay the registration fee ($35/ child; $70/ family) AND purchase the first 25 hours ($100)* per child at the time of registration.

To request special accommodations for your child(ren) in We Care, please contact the We Care office at least ten business days before the anticipated start date.

If your child needs access to an inhaler, EpiPen, or medication during We Care hours, please complete the appropriate form and supply the medication to your We Care Supervisor (if applicable).

*If your child has a significant We Care carryover balance from the previous year, then only the registration fee is required at the time of registration.

The full list of COVID safety guidelines for the 20-21 We Care program are listed on the We Care website. One of these guidelines includes the need for children to supply their own crayons, pencils, pens, markers, etc. which will be stored in their backpacks.  Nothing will be left at We Care.  We Care will have paper and coloring pages available.
