Mentor Schools Community,

Currently, Ohio lawmakers are working through the state biennium budget process, which allocates funding for public schools for the next two years. We always follow this process closely, but this year the changes that are being considered could have significant implications for public school districts like ours.
We feel it is important that our community members understand how the proposed budget (which has passed in the house and now goes to the senate) could potentially negatively impact Mentor Public Schools, and here are some ways to learn more:
- Watch the video
- Attend the Cardinal Cafe on May 15 with Mr. Wade

As you know, we continue to work hard to make sure Mentor Schools is a good return on your investment by providing a high quality education in a fiscally prudent manner. Earning a 4.5 star rating from the state on our latest report card while keeping taxes the third lowest in Lake County is evidence of that effort. With thoughtful financial planning, we've done this without passing a new money levy since 2016.
If you would like to join us in sharing stories about what’s important to you about Mentor Public Schools and why adequate funding is necessary to keep such opportunities available for our community’s children, please feel free to kindly reach out to the legislators who represent our school district. Be sure to tell them who you are and from what viewpoint you are writing.
